Speaker re-coning

About 7 years ago I upgraded the audio system and all the stock (10) spkrs in
my 87 5kcsTQ with Polk Audio units. After about 5 years of "heavy use", the
sound was not as good as original. I called Polk and was surprised to find
that they are unwilling to re-cone (at my expense) car audio speakers. So I
replaced them with another brand. I still have these expensive, but "worn"
speakers. I've heard of companies that re-cone speakers, but wonder if it's
the "Polk" materials that made them sound so good to begin with. I'm
wondering if any of the audiophiles on the list have had experience with
re-coning services.

Thanks,
