RE: Starship rotors & drilling
Dunno what a 'starship' rotor is......but......it's my understanding that cross drilling has the following benefits in approximate order of benefit:
1) allows pad outgasses to escape permitting better braking by improving pad-to-rotor contact
2) better cooling
3) longer pad and rotor life
4) lighter weight
5) lower unsprung mass
Never heard of the 'cheese-grater-on-the-pad' effect, but that does not mean that it is not real!
