RE: new 2 me 90q, questions
Todd:
Sounds like you picked up a nice car. I own a 1990 90Q 20V which had the same wheels. I updraged
the wheels and tires to 205/55 15's.
The thing about your car you may want to check out is wheather the car was oringinally sold with
the performance package. This included sport suspension, sometimes dual calipar front brakes, and
the speedline 15" wheels (copies). These wheels (same as on the coupe) were prone to corrosion and
denting and cracking. They were often warrantied or repalced by the dealer with the BBS 14"
wheels. This is what happend to mine.
Nobody realy wants these 14" wheels so I mounted winter tires, NOKIA NRW's ("H" rated and I love
them). Also, after a long search, I purchased 15x7" Rial rims and Donlap SP8000 tires ("Z" rated).
I decided to go with 15" beacause I do a lot of county road driving in the midwest and road
conditions unpredictable and lots of construction from harsh winters. The 15's are less suseptable
to damage and offer good ride. This tire/wheel size was to OEM spec and the car handles great
(70mph cloverleafs and not even a peep).
My advice to you is to stay away from 17". Go with either 16" or 15" depending on your roads and
what kind of ride you want. The maximum width you can have is 7.5". For rims I would highly
recomend RIAL (800-919-4335). These are German wheels and they offer wheels in specific offsets
for Audi's and other european cars. They are light look like they were sold with the car.
As far as tires go it depends on what you want and what your willing to give up. But try to stay
away from Goodyear, I hated mine until they fell apart and the general concensus on the list is
that they suck.
Recomendations:
B-stone RE71
Dunlap sp8000
Sumatomo (sp?)
Yoko AVS Intermediate
Good luck!
