group 44 type 44q in may racer mag

Subject: group 44 type 44q in may racer mag                                     
the may issue of racer magazine has a photo essay celebrating the 30 years      
of trans am racing.  in the middle of page 56 is a picture of #44 on a road     
course coming out of a downhill right hander.  the text (taken without          
permission): "... and Hurley Haywood drove Group 44 Audi Quattro to '88         
championship before the door was closed."  also shown is audi tied for 9th      
on the all-time winners list for manufacturers (tied with pontiac at 8 wins.)   
it's ironic that pontiac has named their sportiest vehicle after this series    
and has managed approximately one win every 4 seasons while audi came in        
for a year and won approximately half the races while developing a new          
car for a series in which they had no experience.  what a shame that audi's     
american racing effort wilted within a coupla years.  we're still waiting       
and wondering if natcc will provide a relief from the drought.
