the v8 had a relatively short and simple development. it was just two
VW GTI 16Vs siamesed in a new lightweight Al-Si block. the heads are
carried over unchanged. in fact i can replace the distributors with
those from a GTI 16V. they are the same part.
the v8 has been used in the s4 as well as the current a8s. the fact
that they didn't change much for the a8 is testament that it is a fine
engine. my v8 over 6 years has seen just about every little thing need
attention, but the engine has never had a single hiccup, except for
its cold start temperament.

the porsche v8 was considered and rejected because it was too heavy. the audi
v8 weighs less than the honda v6. how about that for achievement?
