latest tidbits on s4 (a4q30vtt)

latest CAR reports that the s4 will be released "later this year"
with the "265 bhp twin-turbo version of the new 30V V6, and priced
at about #30K". (that's pounds sterling)

to get an idea of US prices (that's if they are smart enough to
import it here), the S6 lists for #35,652, while the A4Q 2.6
lists for #24,035. the A4Q 1.8T lists for #21,983. the a6q 30V
lists for #29,950.

that would suggest that the s4 will cost about the same as a loaded
a6Q.

of course things may be totally different in the US (they may not even
bring the car here, but that's conceding market share to the turbo v*lv*,
the bmw m3 and the benz c36) but it's better than not having any idea
whatsoever.

with a4 sales doing as well as they are, it would seem logical to bring in
a hot version to do battle with rivals... if you think a s6 is desirable,
how about something that's a good couple hundred pounds lighter with a
smoother engine, multilink front suspension, no servotronic (i hope), fold
down rear seats and just flat out gorgeous styling? this would be a
money-no-object car for me...... or to borrow a quote from the movie
"ruthless people", "can't afford it? f***ing finance it!!" :)
