Auto Trans Help Needed

This net has been so helpful in the past I thought I'ld look to it again for 
some help on my 91 Audi 80.

As I mentioned, I've got a 1991 80 Model with the 5 cylinder engine and 4 
speed automatic trans. I'm having a problem with erratic and rough shifting 
especially between 2nd and 3rd gear. the problems does not occur all the 
time but especially when it's first driven in the morning- regardless of 
outside temperature. The car currently has 45,000 miles.

My dealer is telling me that the trans. control module is faulty and needs 
replaced, I'm a bit concerned that the module is not the problem because 
they did no other troubleshooting to discover the problem. All they did was 
identify the ECM fault code and tell me to buy the part. 

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so what was the cure. I found a 
service bulletin regarding this problem but my dealer is having a tough time 
finding it in their collection of service bulletins- they are rather poor in this 
respect.
