Audi Automatics and diffs.
Many posts lately about the audi auto and where to buy diffs.
In my experience, you cannot beat a reliable "junk"yard. I have
replaced the auto in the wife's 87 5k wagon and the transaxle--parts cost
me $650. Audi dealer nearby "thought" he could get me the unit new for $3k.
Find a reputable boneyard and buy it there. The good ones will
give a 3-4 month warranty.
If you can find someone that buys at the insurance pool--this
cannot be beat. Older audi's with good motor / tranny sell for dirt.
Last week I saw an 87 5kq with metal damage go for $300. Week before I
bought a perfect 89 100 silver / grey leather 60K for my mom--$1k--needs
rear bumper and tail lights. Car was 1 owner [called her later] always
garaged, said it had always been maintained by the dealer [ouch].
Buying boneyard parts will allow you to feed the Audi habit for a
long time.
