BTCC: trans am '88 all over again

this is becoming a familiar sight. 4 wheel drive audis killing the 2wd
competition and the competition screaming for further handicaps. it
appears that the BTCC are going to slap additional weight handicaps on the
a4s to slow them down. and i will predict that history will repeat
itself: that the weight handicaps will not change the outcome.

i have access to clari.sport.motor and americast.ltimes.sport. there
are great articles in there about audi and the BTCC, but they are
copyrighted, so i can only put in a little snippet here:

begin quote:

John Cleland, of Scotland, the defending BTCC champion, whose Vauxhall
Vectra kept the leaders in sight for the first time this year, experienced
the Audi's supremacy at first hand when Biela easily relegated him to
fourth place on the penultimate lap. ``I think he was playing with me,''
an angry Cleland said. ``When he passed me, it didn't look like he was
working hard at all. Everyone was hanging on for grim death, but that car
was just glued to the track.''

end quote.

wonder if audi of america can turn this into even better sales for the a4.
