I guess I was a little loose on the terminology. I just pulled the strut
insert out using the special tool. And the job took less than an hour to do
BOTH sides. I did one of the sides on our V8 today in less than 10 minutes.
Once you have the strut ASSEMBLY out (using your approach) do you undo the
threaded cap using a large pair of vice grips? I'm a little confused by
your approach. With mine, only the strut insert comes out; the car remains
on its tires, on the ground, and if your careful, you don't need to have it
re-aligned after your done.
