Fluid
Marshall - you may be able to flush your hydraulic system after the
idiots put in the wrong fluid.
On the back end of the pressure acumulator is a fluid return from the
large reservoir - and there's only a hose clamp holding it on, as it is not
a pressure connection. Take this hose clamp off and pull the line
off the PA, and the entire reservoir will drain. (Might unscrew the
reservoir cap, too...)
To further clear the system, do this with the front end off the ground, and
then crank the steering wheel full lock from left to right at least five times
(engine OFF...don't start it when the Pentosin is empty!) This should
purge more oil from the system than the reservoir drain alone will get.
You can then refill with Pentosin; it will take a bit less than one
liter. I would then run it to get pressure up and totally refill the
system, then drain and purge it AGAIN just to get any of the wrong
fluid which might remain. This will, of course, require another
liter of Pentosin.
DO THIS NOW!!!!!!!!
AND - I would call the shop which put in the wrong fluid and tell
them in clear terms that you will bring THEM the bill for the
Pentosin and expect them to pay for it!
If you feel REAL brave, you could talk them into doing the work, too
- as long as you get to stand there and watch them so they don't
screw it up.
