Stapleton

Item Subject: cc:Mail Text
I fully agree with Ben's comments regarding the Stapleton event. This
was a well-run, fun event with lots of track time on a fast (and
forgiving track). Also, I really appreciate Bob and Deb Polich's hard
work in setting this up and keeping the cost down to $75. Bob
explained to me that this was basically a break-even event for the
local chapter and the national club neither helped fund or receive
payment.

I also agree with Alex's comments about Audi brakes being
under-engineered. My completely stock setup was pitiful when braking
at the end of the two long straights at 120+ mph. I experienced
substantial fade after 2 laps and essentially wore out brand new front
pads in a few hours. (However, after putting on brake pads both
Saturday night and Sunday night, I am getting pretty fast at it!)
Time to research upgrades (drilled rotors, Metal Masters, Carbon,
etc.). Is there consensus on the best setup for an S4?

In general, this was exactly the type of event that I expect from a
car club. Plenty of track time, lots of enthusiasm, lots of "experts"
to talk to, and a reasonable cost.
