RE: Bad Vibes

As far as this problem, someone mentioned tires, and I think this is the
probable
cause. While I don't think it is brand related (have had Pirelli P600s on my
Coupe
Quattro for almost 40,000 miles with no problems - very good tire for the
price),
I do feel it is tire-material related.

If the tire has nylon belts or plies, they will tend to flat-spot, and
require a mile or so
of running to get them round again. This is not the case with rayon or steel
belts,
apparently. I have noted this on various vehicles I have owned equipped with
nylon-
belted tires. If it feels out-of-round initally then goes away AND STAYS
away once
the car has been driven a few miles, then comes back only after the car has
been
sitting for a few hours, this would be my guess. If it is worse the longer
the car sits,
this to me is stronger proof. Run it past your dealer; if he gives you a
blank stare,
find somebody competent (I have read about this diagnosis in a few car
magazines dating even back to the '70s).
