RE: Hood release goes "snap"
My wife's old '87 5KSQ had a persistent problem with the hood release
that caused the trip wire to jump out of the little thingy holding it in
place by the latch under the hood. Net result was the release worked
fine except it had no fulcrum against which to pull. Ergo, no open. I
used the old standby, a cable tie, and re-attached the wire to its
perch, and it worked again. At least until the cable tie wore out. When
the thing failed the first time, and when the cable tie subsequently
died, I would use a _long_ flat screwdriver thru the grille to poke the
latch open. HTH.
