AC repairs complete!

At long last, my AC repairs are complete! Total cost:
     10P17C compressor (reused old clutch): 115.00 plus tax
     34192 Accumulator dryer              :  44.50 plus tax
     2nd dryer (ruined first one)         :  44.50 plus tax
     2 schraeder cores                    :  Free (pity gift)
     Evac/fill (38oz R-12) plus new caps  :  59.00
    
     total                                :$263.00 plus tax

When I got in the car this afternoon, it was 100 degrees. Before Audidudi
snorts in derision, the humidity was 91%...  The cold air was a blessing!
Temp now stays right in the two tick marks. New antifreeze should bring it
down a bit.

The accumulator install can be a real pain. The replacement has two
schraeders which take up space. The female end is hard to get fitted
correctly, with a 9 1/2" long can and no room to manuever. Hence, cross
threading the first one. Luckily the connection is brass to soft aluminum,
otherwise I'd have been pulling an evap assembly =:-0  As it was, I slightly
mushroomed the end and had to do some careful "adjustments" to the copper
line. The big sweat was whether the evac and fill would hold. All better now
(whew...).
