Upholstery - Front Seat Repair

All:

I have an '86 5KCSTQ with power seats and 185k miles on the clock.  The leather
on the seats is in fine condition but the thread has become butt worn and given
way.  I want to pull this leather panel off and restitch it myself and am looking
for recommendations on how best to do this and how much time should I alot.

Should I unbolt the seat and lean it back to gain access to the clips holding
the panel on, or?

Do I need to take the seat back off for any reason?
