17 mm allen key, dying Audi owner, ( I mean battery )

I got my 17mm allen key wrench at Sears

Worked just fine to open the access nuts.

Now, FILLING the oil back is a challenge.
Try Murray's or Pep Boys, they have a oil
pump thing that screws right on top of the
Mobil-1 (75W90 synthetic) jug, and it
takes a while, but gets done.

Re: the low charging, unless you do regular
freeway driving, a typical Audi 13.7 volts alternator
setting will not keep the battery charged. A small 4-6 amp
battery charger applied overnight every one-two months will
compensate ( frequency depends on newness of battery. )

It does sound like the battery is supplying lower than spec.
maximum output current. possible reasons could be:

1. Loose belt.

2. Bad diode(s).

3. Bad ( very worn brushes ) regulator.

But a dying blower motor will not cause a battery
to go dead faster unless the bearings are slowly
seizing up. If it is squeaking a lot, try spraying
silicon lube in from the access port kinda onto the
brushes/bearing area. It the brushes are just plain
worn down, you just get LESS current used....
