We eventually got the fuel pressure regulator for our V8 from Germany but
unfortunately it did not cure our surging and the fuel pressure remained at 5.8
bar instead of 4.  We are now forced to follow the Audi advice and buy the fuel
distribution lines at a cost of L710 to try and cure the high pressure and
surging it seems to be causing.  When they arrive and are fitted I'll let all
you fellow surgers know if it cures the trouble.
