Two Steps Forward, One Back
Well, gee, last weekend was so productive that something just had to
come up for this weekend. After replacing the lock link in the
driver's door of my 200, the alarm system is confused. Seems like
every other time I unlock it and enter, the alarm system is not
disengaged - starts flashing and honking. Every time, though, if I
hop out and use the key to re-lock and unlock either front door, it
turns off. It just is getting real old having to hop back out and
shut off the alarm every other time I get in this "FINE car" (just in
case the Stuporchip[tm] is listening...).
And if I leave the car unlocked and re-enter, about half the time it
goes off anyway!
I have not tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery yet,
which might be a possible "hard reset" for a confused alarm system.
Does anyone want to suggest specific items I might have missed or mal-
adjusted inside the door - or concur that maybe a battery disconnect
is the logical thing to do?
Also - Andrew - congratulations on your escape. I had a similar
experience once, and the only thing that's worse than being behind
one of those homicidal idiots is succeeding in getting in front of
them! Glad you and the "steed" are both well!
