90Q20v LOVE!

Hi Folks,

As the owner of two Audis and the former owner of two Fiats (yipe!) I am
painfully aware of the problems encountered with ownership; and this list
is a great way to share fixes and find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on.
However, I thought I'd take this opportunity to share with you and help
some of you remember what it was like in your more formative years. Last
week I took delivery of my new 1990 90Q20v and this weekend gave me my
first opportunity to really drive "Quattro." Allow me this indulgence
just this once.
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------
 ----------------
We begin Saturday morning at 5:00 AM and slip some live Pat Metheny
into the CD player at low volume so as not to drown out the wonderful
engine harmonics. We're going into the Mount Washington Valley in the
White Mountain National forest and this morning we've got time so we're
taking to the back roads. Head out of my home town quickly young man for
there is no fun to be had when the place is loaded with Johnny Law. Take
the back road through Lee, NH and watch the University of NH farm fields
go by in a blur. Take the revs up to six grand on that favorite curve
and hope the tractors aren't out early....laugh like a schoolgirl when
you apply pressure to the accelerator and hit the apex of the curve just
right. I love my Quattro....any buyers remorse is left back in the trunk
of my old 5000s.

Blow out to Route 125 and go towards Rochester...past the old country
store that sells the great smoked cheese....don't stop today, too much
fun going on. Leave that tailgater in your dust on that decreasing
radius turn that turns 125 into Route 16. Leave the on ramp going way
past what the law allows. A straight shot to the mountains now and they
grow by the minute...you can't wait for more twisty-wind-dees.

Hop into your buddy's Nissan to climb Mount Washington...(he insists as
he is running up the auto road today and you have agreed to bring him
down.....curse his Nissan, curse his Nissan).

At last, you are reunited with your now beloved Quattro and it begins to
rain...you secretly delight of the drive through the valley in the fresh
summer rain.......the Quattro sticks like glue....you laugh NOT like a
schoolgirl this time, but like the devil himself. Your friend who
follows remarks on the odd "tightness" of the water spray in your wake.
You comment, "no kidding?," and smile big as a house. You and your
friend go separate ways and you know that you'll be having fun while he
is just driving.

Take the long way home....the one recommended in the motorcycle
books...the one that twists like a snake with an ulcer.....153. Laugh
all the way home and remind yourself just once that while the Quattro is
good she will not overcome the laws of physics. Get home.....grill a
steak...watch a little Lemans on Speedvision...fall asleep and dream of
curves.

Somebody remind me I wrote this when I start complaining about the
Audi Gods. Have a GREAT week everybody!
