Temperature light on

Have been having an on-going problem with my steering rack..... it is
leaking and needs replacing. (Real Soon, I hope!) Yesterday, I used "GUNK"
engine cleaner to removed some of the heavy oil deposits from under the
steering rack, mostly because of the smell.
Everything went fine, however now my water temperature light comes on and
stays on. The engine is not overheating, there is plenty of water, etc. I'm
sure it has to do with the "bath" I gave the motor yesterday. (Gave it a
thorough cleaning)
Any suggestions of where to begin looking? Most connections that I can see
look fine.
