Loosen the axle shaft bolt with tires on the ground, it's a bit easier.

To press out the axle shaft from the hub, I use a 6in gear puller that
I picked up at sears a while back. Remove the wheel, brake calpier,
brake disk and then put the arms of the puller on the hub assembly.
Works fine for me. When I pulled the axles from the ur-q last week,
they just slide out from the splined hub. No gear puller action this
time around.
