ABS problem on 92 S4

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me. I just acquired a 92 S4 with 37k miles.
With the ABS on, as I am coming to a stop (<5 mph) the ABS seems to engage,
the brake pedals kicks back a bit, and there is a low then high pitched
sound as the car comes to a stop. If I turn off the ABS, these events do
not occur. There is no warning lights on startup to tell me that there is
any malfunction of the ABS.

This repair will be paid for by the seller, so financially it won't set me
back, but I would like to know what the problems may be.

Any suggestions?
