Thanks to Glen, Scott, Robert, Richard, Bob,
and Steve for the help and sugestions.

I have considered induction system leaks, but
have ruled them out because the idle screw
works so well.  Normally it is disabled by
any small leak.  It does sound like a leak,
however.  I hear the turbo spooling like if
the sniffer tube cap blew off. Leaks on the
exhaust side don't disturb the idle system.
I have yet to inspect the turbo and WG. 
I checked for various obstructions in the
intake last night. Nothing.  The cat was very
disintegrated with lots of chunks and fluff.
Muffler guy said back pressure was fine, testing
at a port just behing the cat.  Still wonder if
the test is valid, with no load.  I could still get
a new 2.5" system installed this PM.  Any ideas how
good the test up on the stand is versus the road?
I did see about 2 psi more after swapping cats.
