One Lap Thanks
I hope this is not a duplicate- I don't think the first message was
sent-I didn't really want to do it over but-
Anyway, now that life is back to normal(?) I wanted to take a minute
and thank all those from the Q-list who followed our adventure in the
One Lap. Several of you came out to the tracks and introduced
yourselves to us and
offered help, parts and whatever we might need. We had Q-listers come
out and meet us at Putnam Park, Blackhawk Farms, Lime Rock and the
Glen! Its amazing how the net and a common interest (Audis) can bring
people togeth
er.
We had a great time, and for the record finished 3rd in the luxury
sedan class and 32nd overall. The other S4 finished 43rd overall.
This was my first time driving anything other than a front engine, rear
drive car on the race track. The S-6 wagon ran flawlessly throughout-
except for the 2 bent 17' rims which were inflicted by the terrible
roads in up
state NY (I-84!) That didn't help our times at Lime Rock, and forced us
to switch to the OEM 16' wheels and tires for the Glen. At Summit
Point and the Glen (where I was familiar with the tracks and more
comfortable pus
hing the car- since it is my daily commuter) we finished 2nd in class
(to the Renntech MB race car) and 22nd overall. Obviously the S6 is
competitive- even with the limited modifications relative to other
cars. As one alm
ost stock Corvette ZR-1 driver said- "I came with a pistol and everyone
else brought cannons!"
The One Lap was a fun event- we got to meet many interesting people
with some awesome cars, saw parts of the country we had never been to
before, and raced on tracks that we had never been on before. We will
definately do
it again next year, after I have more seat time, and the Wagon gets a
few more modifications. It sure would be nice to have some other Audis
join in- maybe a hot A-4 in mid priced sedan! This year there were as
many Cobr
as as Audis!
Again thanks for the interest and support- and hopefully some of you
will join us next year.
