Coolant gauage problem - intermittent

Hi guys,
After seeing all the coolant gauage problems on recent threads, my 
coolant gauage didn't work this morning.  It just "died".  No 
movement at all.

However, after an hour sitting in the parking lot, I started the car 
up, the gauage worked again, ie, without anything being done by 
anyone.  In fact the hood has not been lifted.

Could it be a dirty connection problem, or is it a sign of the sensor 
dying,  or a corroded wiring problem like Robert Myers has ?
