I had an '87 CGT with the digital star wars display.  The display failed at
about 100+K in 1991.  I took it to the dealer and he said $800+(I don't
remember exactly) to fix it -ouch.

I called AOA - I don't remember who I spoke to - and pleaded my case.  It
should not have failed and I thought the cost was exorbitant.  They were very
nice and said they would pick up half of parts and labor!

It is definitly worth calling them and asking.  All they can say is no.
