Got the new clutch linkage rod installed, (Thanks Steve B!) bled the clutch system and took the ol track car out for a shake-down beat-run. When I got down to the end of our looooong and steeeeep driveway and turned around I found that I'd layed down an *enourmous* smokescreen! Thought to myself 'oh no - sumptin's toasted mit der engine!' - but no. Got back up the 'mountain' and popped the hood. The alternator had seized on this lengthy 1/4 mile journey down the driveway, was hot as H_LL and smoked-up the alternator belt on the now-no-longer-spinning alternator pulley. Trekked back down on foot to find the MIA belt - of course it was all the way down at the veryveryvery bottom, 1/2 mile round trip little trek on foot.....
