Re: quattro snow tires

If you don't drive high mileage in the winter, then the Bridgestone Blizzaks
are clearly the best, especially at braking. Remember they're only Q speed
rated.
I use the Michelin Alpin H rated snows. They last much longer, and don't
loose their snow tire characteristics when old, like the blizzaks do. H rated
a must when its dry. They do have a cheaper version that I think is Q rated.
The reason to use snows and not all-seasons is for the braking. You can
quattro power out of most things, as I proved early last winter (remember the
5 feet in December?) commuting over the Appalachian gap road here in Vermont,
but a scary episode with a moose and crummy braking led to snows on minus 1
inch rims.
We should arrange a winter quattro driving event here in New England!!!
