Re: HELP Audi 5000-S, STALLING while cruising
I used to have a 85' 5000s which had same problem. Did you hear a buzzing
humming kind of noise just before it stalled out? It's not not fun at all
when you need to dive for the shoulder on the freeway from 65mph to
coasting speed! :( In my case it was the fuel pump. I would also change the
fuel filter too since the pump maybe throwing out broken bits of itself
up stream.
If you are trying to replace your pump yourself make sure you have less than
1/4 tank of gas otherwise you might need to submerge you whole arm into
gasoline to get the pump out :P Do it outdoor in a well ventilated
area. I ended up paying my mechanic to do it. The pump is about $190 if
you get it from Linda at Carlsen Audi in Palo Alto, I think their number
is 1-800-523-2408, make sure you mention you are from the Internet
Quattro Group.
