Turbo wastegate spring
Hey there. I just joined the list, but already I am very interested in what
you guys are talking about.
In a couple of messages, people have mentioned a stiffer wastegate
spring for the turbo that can be used to increase the boost past the factory
setting. I have a '85 CD Turbo that I bought used about 6 months ago.
Everything seems okay with the car now, but I am interested increasing it's
performance. (Aren't we all!)
What is this whole spring thing about and where can I get one? The
digital boost gauge still registers 1.4 bar, so I think the turbo is in good
shape since it still puts out the factory max boost.
Also, I am pretty annoyed at the automatic climate control system on
my car. When I set it on auto, the computer insists on blowing the A/C out
of the top vents on the dash (right by the windshield) Most of the cool air
is being used to cool down the dash and doesn't cool the passengers. It only
blows through the face vents on the low setting, but this doesn't keep the
car cool enough. Is there anything I can do to change the way the computer
sets the fan positions/speeds?
I am glad to be a part of this list, I only wish I had joined sooner,
because the ISV on my car died last weekend, so I bought a new one. Now I
wish I had tried to clean the electrical connectors like people suggested.
Oh well.
Can anyone recommend a good performance exhaust system for this model? The
system on mine needs replacing from the cat back (not including the cat,
thank god!) but no one seems to know of any good exhaust systems around my
neck of the woods.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
