'87 5KCSTWQ Basic Upgrade Suggestions

Ok,

I've been listening a nd looking for a while now, gotten great help on 
small repairs, etc. 

Also, noticing that many are talking about upgrades and increaded 
performance and power features. Hmmm, interesting.


As far as I know I have an 'stock' '87 5KCSTQW. OK, here's the question:

What kind of fairly simple, fairly inexpensive upgrades would you 
suggest, if I wanted to start to treatd on this, no doubt, somewhat, 
strange and dangerous path?

Oh, and BTW, what, if any, toll would these upgrades take on the car.
