New Water Pump is In

With the new muffler installed on Friday, I took the time yesterday to
replace the water pump that I should have replaced... (repeat after me):

When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.
When I replace the timing belt, I will replace the water pump.

And so on...

One more thing to note here. When working on your Audi, try not to have
anyone around to talk to or otherwise divert your attention from the job
at hand. I seldom write down which bolt goes where and which part came
out when. So during the w/p exchange, my Dad unexpectedly visits and
wants to lend a hand. I work alone. I need the peace and quiet and
concentration. I need to remember things like the lower front timing
cover must go on before the top, before the belts, before the front
grille.

I need to remember things like always replacing the timing cover spacers
before replacing the timing covers, the belts, the front grille...

I must have taken everything apart and put it back together again at
least 3 times within the last 15 minutes of the operation.

On a lighter note: I am getting pretty darn fast at this now. ;-}
