FWIW, the service manual for my '96 A4Q says every 7500 
miles, with a mandatory change at 1k. I asked the dealer about 
it since I'm used to doing changes at 3k miles, and he said that 
it is "standard practice" now. Granted, listening to a dealer is not 
always the smartest thing. As the car is on lease, that's the 
treatment it'll get. On my other car, I'll still follow the traditional 
3k/3 mo guideline.
