The point I tried to make was that a brake system designed for power assist
would be bad without the power assist.  I didn't mean to imply that disk
brakes cound not be designed for non-assisted operation, I'm sure they can
(bigger brakes, different lever ratios, smaller master cyl - caliper piston
ratios, etc).  I just wanted to point out that most poeple would be
surprised at how hard (relatively or otherwise) it would be to stop their
cars w/o power assist...or they should know how much harder it would be
before they disregard the hydraulic warning light.
