oil pressure sender

I am in the process of installing the auxilliary gauge cluster from a 90Q
20v on my 10v 90Q.  The oil pressure sending unit is a dual function type,
one wire to the gauge and the other to the ECU I believe.  Anyway, ther
are two oil pressure sensors on the side of the engine, which one do I
replace with the dual function unit?  Question 2:  With the guages powered
up but no senders hooked up to them why does the oil pressure gauge read
over 5 bar?  How exactly does the sender work?
