Re: A4 Estate import ?

You used to be able to do a "tourist delivery" which is where you fly
over to the audi factory to take personal delivery of your car and in the
process save lots of money of the dealer price, usually enough to cover
the cost of the trip and the shipping back to the U.S./Canada. These type
of programs might be more hard to pull off these days, since I think you
pick up a Euro-spec car and hence, might not be allowed to import it to
North America.
To find out more about this program, try asking a dealer. But since they
usually have no clue about what is going on, they will probably deny that
any such thing ever existed. If this happens then try to call/write to
Audi/V.W. of America and enquire about the program.
I know that the manual for my '85 5kCD mentions the program and
gives the address of where to write to for more info, but it is probably
way out of date. You might try to find a more recent audi manual and see
if it gives an address in there.
