That potentiometer is an unusually mounted and connected one (looks like a
barn and directly soldered to the printed circuit board). A decent tech
could probly take readings and retrofit another for you. High school
electronics teacher challenge is a good idea.

Here's what I did for mine:
Cleaned thoroughly with alcohol (rubbing, not ETOH), including extensive
working back and forth.
Pressed down on wiper with a pin to restore some pressure.
Lubricated with one drop Canola oil (gotta watch those grams 'o' fat!).
Danced around Audi three times in the nude.
Threw salt over my LEFT shoulder, chanting: ILOVEMYAUDIILOVEMYAUDI...

The last two are optional - but if ya REALLY want it to work...
