Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you're okay and only
minor damage to the 80 Q.  I have the same and it is good to
hear such news.

Anyhow,

$40 for a turnsignal light from the dealer sounds cheap.

I replaced the same on my VW Scirocco and it cost $40 used. I think the dealer wanted $80.

I am not sure where you live but I know a place in San Jose CA.

A German Auto Parts (408)993-9711.  They have Audi and VW Wrecks and do excellant rebuilds.
