I find the sound to be acceptable.  I've noticed that the RF 
modulator can overload and distort on some kinds of high level
musical passages (muted trumpet, for instance).  Maybe it's
something else, but this is my guess.

Another problem they pose is the placement of the display unit,
which are ugly IMO.  I had mine installed in the ash try, out of
sight.  I have to open the ash try to read it and to use the remote,
but this is a small price to pay to avoid having this thing hanging
on the dash somewhere.
