Re: ur-quattro tyres

     Dave,
I have a bit of experience running very wide tyres on an ur-q, I am
currently moving to a narrower tyre. While wider tyres definitely look
"cool" they really hurt acceleration times and may not improve the car's
handling. In the wet and/or snow wide tyres can be (very) detrimental to
     the car's performance.

The rotational mass the engine has to accelerate will be more if you go to
a 235 and the rolling resistance will also be greater. Similarly the
unsprung weight of the car will be higher. From my experience wide tyres
are great on fast, smooth roads with long sweeping corners - maybe ideal
for track use, but for the street...

235's were the stock size on the sport quattro and it used a 9" rim so you
may have excessive tyre wall flex on an 8" rim, there also may be clearance
problems? If I were you I would move up to a 225, I think this is a common
tyre size for ur-q owners and would be a good compromise.

Keep us posted on what you decide and how it works out.

     Regards, Mike
