To prepare your car....first of all make it safe.......if it doesn't 
pass a state inspection, don't bother.......therefore.....
check to make sure the following are tight....
1.  Wheel bearings, 
2.  cv joints
3.  steering
Check for worn or cracked boots and brake rotors
Replace brake pads, just as a precaution.......
Exhaust should be tight
No leaks, drips.......

To prepare yourself.....do NOT think of yourself as MACHO driver....you 
are there to learn and have fun....not to show how fast you can go......a 
MACHO mindset is the quickest way to get into trouble......

So the BEST advice.....go with the attitude....I'm going to have fun.....
