I just did this to mine last month on the 20V when one of the rubber
bands broke. It only took me 15 minutes to weld up, but about an hour to
get down!! I had to torch off the bolts... they were all barnacled up.
I decided to try to repair it because the rear muffler on the 20V is
$750+. And yes, they ARE gold plated. They must be!
It was worth me diving into it, it saved me some big coin, and was really
easy.

According to me, it's a *major* design defect!! When those stupid hangers go,
the muffler *rides* on the rear driveshaft!
It took me 3 days with the CoupeQ on stands to get out the rusted nuts and
bolts on the rear muffler...managed to get them off by drilling through the
nuts, finally. Welded it, as most others did...the muffler weighs as much as
a child!!
