mufflers, donuts and nylons

With all the talk about muffler donuts, I decided to check mine, even 
though they are fairly new(HA!) Suuuurpise, suuuurprise, suuurprise!  
Donuts are gone on the tail end and only one in the middle taking most of 
the weight right now.  So, since I'm not planning on doing any *welding* 
Whoever it was that said the thing about nylon ties(?) or sometyhing like 
that, can you let me know exactly what I have to go and buy, I know where 
to put them on, but could you also tell me any tips on how best to tie 
them on? TIA
