I've noticed a clicking sound sometimes when depressing the clutch (88 5000Q).
I had the linkage lubricated and the clutch is smoother now but the clickis
still there from time to time. My mechanic said that it might be the dreaded
master cylinder. For those of you that have replaced this item, was the failure
preceded by a clicking sound in the clutch?

Check for wear at the clevis/clevis pin/clutch pedal joint.
