Leases, 200QW
Progress, on the back of a bummer: My wife's '95 Passat went belly-up
tonight at the ice cream stand, complete with our kids. Are you ready
for why? The battery *EXPLODED*!!! No shit! In a car less than two years
old! Just from attemting to start it! No jumpers involved!
Kathryn got in to go home (her car, she drives mostly), put the key in,
turned it, BIG EFFING BANG, wisp of smoke from under hood, nothing.
Jumped out to see who was shooting at us, noticed puddle under car,
closer inspection under hood revealed a 2" x1" hole in the battery top.
Quick USAC tow job to dealer, they suffer Kathryn's and my wrath
tomorrow.
This has caused Kathryn to review her desire to own a new (reliable)
car. Given our imminent familial growth (number three due in two weeks),
my gentle whispers of "a nice Audi 200QW would be a much better car for
us" have taken on new importance.
Two problems: the Passat is leased, and how to find a nice 200QW? Has
anyone been able to gracefully, and cheaply (we have accumulated fewer
miles than the lease allows for), exit a lease? If so, the search for a
nice 200QW is on. '88-'90 is prolly our price range, but a nice '91 20v
non-UFO would be OK, too.
Stupid statement to follow: Useful advice requested. Of course.
