Puter junkies and you car.curious thoughts arise!

OK, for some of you old computer junkies out there - this question
popped into my head :  Well, something tells the computer on my 90
to come on with various conditions and different segments light up
creating symbols and words.  What if I could control it somehow?  Is
it possible to program you computer to do something else.  Possibly
add input variables?  Curious.......
