Let us not forget Carbon Pads.
Also Silicone fluid is used because it doesnt attract H2o as with
Dot 3-4. It is very easy to bleed air out of it, except in sub zero
temps.
I use ATE Blue and Teflon lines. I change the fluid at a minium every
year, mainly cause of the humidity.
The major concern with brake fluid is its "dry boilins point" and
"wet boiling point". When fluid boils, it bubbles, making brakes feel
"spongy".
Dot 4 fluid is fine for normal every day driving, so long its changed at
regular intervals. It will absorb water, and the longer its left in, the
more it will absorb, reducing the "dry boiling point", reducing braking
effectiveness and increasing corrision.
