RE: Air filter nightmare!



It is just a guess, but is this car not a quattro with the 20v engine? Is it 
the 10v MC engine? The procedures described below are true for the 20v turbo - 
I have no idea how to do it on the 10v.

I didn't know it was so hard!  I've had mine out several times for both
filter change and examination of the Air Mass Sensor.  Just dive in and undo
the clips.  I have big hands and can still get them unclipped easily.  BUT
you MUST undo the captive screw way over by the fender, extreme left. It is
located where a 4th clip would be if they used one. Get a flashlight first
to locate it, then a long screwdriver to undo it.  Now, undo the hose clamps
to the Air Mass Sensor and disconnect the wiring harness.  It all lifts out.
