RE: @%#$&%!@

Hope you didn't drop a valve, on the 20v motor that gets expensive.

I had a Capri (the German one with the agricultural 2.3 SOHC motor) that
burned an exhaust valve. Symptoms came on rather suddenly, same
clattering (due to ignition happening in the combustion chamber, the
exhaust header, and points south) , same lack of power, cheaper (but not
much simpler) to fix than valves and pistons doing a tango. It required
pulling the head, and minimally replacing the burnt valve and valve stem
seal.

While I was there, I had the head planed, new cam, new springs, new
valve stem seals, and a nice 3 angle grind done. The incremental cost to
do the upgrade was not huge, but the performance difference was!
Unfortunately Schricks for our 20v motors are around $1100 for the pair,
Extrude-Hone is over $700, but fun costs. Now might be the time to find
a nice, bent '91 200q or S4/6, and do a little transplanting.
